Final Assignment Proposal
For my final assignment, I plan to create a series of triptychs featuring exotic automobiles.
Each triptych will include main image of the entire car. Two sub-dominant images will feature unique or interesting features of the vehicle, such as textures (carbon fiber, etc), aerodynamic features, engine parts, headlights, interiors, etc, to give a sense of the character of that particular car. Additionally, I plan on incorporating some type to feature the name and pertinent stats (horsepower, torque, max top speed, engine displacement, etc) of each vehicle.
The goal of the project is to display these cars as combinations of fine craftsmanship and precision engineering, with a focus on speed and luxury.
Possible cars include:
Audi R8
Audi R8 Spyder
Dodge Viper ACR
Dodge Viper ACR-X
Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale
Ferrari 430
Ferrari 458 Italia
Ford GT
Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera
Lamborghini Gallardo Spider
Lamborghini Murcielago
Lotus Exige 240s
Mercedes SLR McLaren
Mercedes SLS AMG
Nissan GT-R
Porsche Carrera GT
At this time, all photos will be outdoors. In the event of inclement weather, a large indoor space is available (parking garage type structure). I am undecided about shooting in daylight or at night. Overall a sense of drama is desired, with lighting emphasizing the exotic nature of the cars Whichever better suits the situation will be used. HDR will be definitely be utilized.
I'm drawing a ton of inspiration from ADV.1, a high-end wheel manufacturer. Their ability to capture a very striking & powerful yet simple & clean image, as well as their attention to detail and incorporation of type are all elements I'm planning to emulate.

Timeline/Schedule:
Availability of the vehicles is flexible and I should be able to shoot whenever it is convenient as long as weather allows.
I plan on shooting the weekend of April 7-8 & 14-15, which preliminary Photoshop work in between sessions in preparation for the April 16 crit. All shooting will then be completed the weekend of April 21-22, and additional editing for the April 30 critique. Final edits and prints will be made the weekend of May 5th. Prints will be on 11x14 paper.
